Family Hearing Centers offers hearing assessments and screenings, fitting of hearing devices, custom hearing protection and listening buds, ear wax removal, educational events and other better hearing solutions. They provide services in the office as well as in the home of guests who are homebound.

To learn a bit more about Family Hearing Centers, we did a quick 3-question interview with Chelsea Walters, a hearing professional with the company:

Sunlight Support: How did you get started in this industry?

Chelsea: I have always been a passionate about helping people. After shadowing a speech therapist in high school, I fell in love with the idea of helping people improve their communication skills. In college, Audiology & Speech Science are taught together. After college, I gained real world experience with speech therapy and hearing rehabilitation. I discovered that I had a zeal for helping people hear better and have been honing that skill ever since!

Sunlight Support: What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Chelsea: Sound is a huge part of all of our lives, keeping us engaged with the world around us, connecting us to our loved ones, and even contributes to brain and body wellness. I love helping my guests get all of these things back into focus. Typically hearing loss happens slowly over time, and it’s hard for people to notice the gradual changes. There is nothing like seeing the look on a guest’s face or hearing a story about a regained connection because of their better hearing. And the beautiful part is that it impacts everyone differently which keeps me on my toes.

Sunlight Support: What is a little known fact about Family Hearing Center?

Chelsea: Family Hearing Center is more than just a name. We are all actually close like family and view our guest’s care from a team approach. All of us want the best for our guests, but we also want the best for each other and expect the best from each other. We love what we do and have a great time working with each other. This translates to amazing experiences for all of our guests.
